Professor Testimonial:
The Thermography presentation to my class of Graphic Design juniors at Moore
College of Art & Design in Philadelphia was outstanding. All three
representatives were extremely generous with information about the process
using many concrete examples. Although we stress design principles, it's the
goal of my course to give practical knowledge about the field to students as
they prepare to begin internships. Most of the students didn't realize what
thermography was before this presentation(they'd seen it in use but didn't
know what it was called) and were fascinated to learn about the process. It
was also helpful because when professionals come and speak, they often stress
the practical aspects of things in a very believable way. I find that this prepares
the students to have a more realistic sense of what their internship experiences will be.
John McTigue, Cathy Shea and Pam Boyd were wonderful. They spent a lot of time
interacting with my students, allowing for much give and take. They came prepared
with a video, excellent examples which were passed around (it's such a tactile
technique!) and even left behind books of examples for us to use as teaching aids
in future classes. Based on the reports they wrote following this class, I know they
were impressed and engaged. It was a great experience, and I hope to include
another presentation in next year's class!
