MICAH CHASE OF CHECKERBOARD, LTD. RE-ELECTED PRESIDENT OF NATIONAL TRADE ORGANIZATION

WEST BOYLSTON, MA. June 19, 2003 - Micah Chase, President and CEO of Checkerboard Ltd., based in West Boylston, Massachusetts, has been elected to his second term as President of the Invitation and Stationery Alliance (ISA), the industry's premier national association of stationery and invitation manufacturers.

The mission of the ISA is to promote and advance the invitation and stationery industry, to acquaint the customer and potential customer with the new developments in the industry, and to keep the stationery industry viable through group forecasting and monitoring. The ISA achieves these goals through workshops, seminars, and its newsletter, "Partners in Paper," which addresses such industry concerns as forecasting and monitoring business trends, running a more efficient and effective business, retailer outreach, and proven sales motivations and incentives.

Micah Chase, President and CEO of Checkerboard Ltd. since 1994, represents the third generation of Chases involved in the stationery industry. Under Micah's leadership, Checkerboard's sales have increased by 20% each year since he assumed the company's top position. The company also walked away from this year's International Greeting Card Awards with a "Louie," the most prestigious award in the industry. Checkerboard's wins are truly a testament to Micah's leadership and vision.

As President of Checkerboard, Micah has been dedicated to bringing the fine stationery business into the 21st century through the innovative use of technology within the company, improvement of production processes, and facilitating creative product design. He hopes to bring these same insights to the ISA, where the free exchange of ideas has helped improve the individual ISA companies and strengthen the industry as a whole.

"In its sixth year of existence, the ISA continues to enrich the fine stationery industry," said Chase. "It's a group of dedicated and extremely creative people who are set on promoting and improving the stationery business-whether it's educating retailers and consumers about trends in the industry or integrating tools of technology into our businesses to improve service to our customers. I firmly believe in the things the ISA is trying to achieve and am pleased to have the opportunity of leading the group to the fulfillment of those goals."

Micah's background includes an undergraduate degree in artificial intelligence from the University of Rochester and an MBA from the William E. Simon School of Management. He serves as a Board Member for The Worldwide Printing Thermographers Association whose mission is to promote and advance the art of thermography, and the use and application of the thermographic process.
