ORLANDO, FLORIDA - The Worldwide Printing
Thermographers Association (WPT) recently made its grand debut at
the HOW Design Conference in Orlando, Florida which was attended
by more than 2,000 graphic designers from across the nation.
The WPT exhibit booth offered designers clever examples of how
to use thermography along with other processes to enhance their
projects. Complimentary fraction to decimal bookmarks (used by
designers to measure their design work) featuring the WPT
website, thermography samples, and a resource listing WPT members
were distributed at the WPT booth. WPT members Bob Hodgins,
Hodgins Engraving Company in Batavia, NY; Allan Greenspan,
Northeast Thermography, Wallingford, CT; Craig Schwartzer, Faust
Thermographic Supply, Linden, NJ and designers from Checkerboard,
Ltd., West Boylston, MA staffed the booth and discussed the
thermography process with conference attendees.
Prior to the conference, WPT members produced thermographed,
4-color inserts that appeared in HOW and I.D. Magazine - - two
prominent design publications read by more than 250,000 designers
nationally and internationally. The pieces featured a production
notes section that explained the thermography process.

with thermography (raised printing) at the WPT exhibit booth. |
WPT member Allan Greenspan commented that, "The
designers had a multitude of questions about thermography ranging
from pricing, color restrictions, ink colors and powder choices.
They spent a lot of time examining the sample pieces available at
the booth and were extremely interested in learning as much as
possible about the thermography process and its variety of
uses."
According to WPT President Bob Hodgins, "The HOW
Conference reinforced two things for our industry. First, that
the design community needs to be educated about thermography.
Second, that there are tremendous business opportunities
available through this type of outreach. This was an important
first step for WPT and we will continue to identify opportunities
to educate designers and other critical markets about the
benefits of using thermography."
